I feel like I have been out of the loop for so long now. I finally got my new retail business up and running after four long months of permits and architects and electricians and contractors and small town politics, and so on and so forth. You would think that in an economy, when so many people are dieing to have a job, contractors and electricians would be more on the ball returning phone calls for requested quotes on work needed to be done. The whole basic FU mentality just escapes me, but HEY, who am I to judge.
So now I just sit and wait for my new business to take hold. I have done this before so I know what it takes, but I guess I am just that much older now and my patience is that much less. But I shouldn’t complain because at least I am working.
I have been trying to follow what has been going on in the world. I think I gave up on trying to deal with what has been going on in our own government. The pettiness and foolishness is sometimes to much to bear. Again, I don’t know if it is just that I am getting older and my patience is running much thinner these days.
I am pleased, however, that President Obama has stated that we are going to take a back seat in regards to what is going on in Iran right now. He has decided to plant his seeds of doubt and to just step back and see if anything grows from it. No earth shattering Bush like declarations that democracy has once again taken hold where it did not exist before. No shoot em up and bang bang politics of riding in on our white stallions ready to save the world so that they can all live like us in a country that is so fucked up now that we can’t even keep our own citizens employed or offer them affordable health care. I just hope that we continue to stay out of the way and to keep our two cents to ourselves.
I am hoping to have some more time now to catch up on all my favorite blogs and to catch up with old friends. But, I am also hoping that my business is so busy that I don’t have the time. OH, to be worried again about too much business. I miss the old days…

Chick, I need a link to your wares.
Or some other way to support you aside from provocative comments. I have really treated a few of your guests like shyte on your blog… sorry for that.
Sometimes, it’s hard not to verbalize.
I am so right there with you about the noise of the news, world, bigger things in general.
At least you have remained true to your writerly self and blog when the mood strikes and the world calls too loudly not to listen.
You are such a voice of peace.
Always love reading your stuff…
Cheers!
Skye,
I always wait in anticipation for you to come riding in here to do your verbal repartee that you are oh so good at. It always makes me smile when a very smart person can rip some a-hole apart with their words. Words are oh such powerful tools when used correctly.
As for my wares, it is just a small business in a small town somewhere in the middle of New Jersey. All I am hoping for is enough business to sustain my life style. I have been doing this for over 20 years and have done well for myself, so time will tell this time around. If I ever do decided to start up a web site I will certainly post it here.

Good luck with the new biz! Think CHEAP! Unless you live in a very affluent area, it seems like all people are buying these days are bargains.
If you’re selling diamonds, I’ll take a dozen. My oil stocks are doing really well again!

cosa,
My previous business was in a very affluent area. I decided to close it and move down off the mountain, back into town so I did not have to deal with the “affluent” customer anymore. Sometimes the more money someone spends makes them feel that they own a piece of you.
So now I am going what I like to call, cheap and cheery.

Smart move. The more affordable the product or service, the more customers. The more customers, the better, always.
Smart move on the baby stuff. I’ve noticed something of a baby boom here, recently. Preggers everywhere. Common in times of stress. You’d think it would be the opposite under economic stress. I guess it’s a hopeful sign for a recovery in the near future.
Best of luck to us all!
(The only way to make money off the rich is to make fools of them and blatantly rip them off. Like, a psychic pet business. Or a Republican Party. They love that sh*t. Can’t spend enough on it!)

Congratulations on your new business. Please share more details about what it’s all about.
Ted,
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the congrats. What I basically do is sell furniture and accessories to people for their babies and children. It can be both full of thanks and, or thankless, depending on the customer.
And while you accomplished some things…
BillO is still a dildo.
Amen to that. Some things just never change…
willpen, Baby stuff…very cool. Let me know if/when you have an online presence.
I do think the world has gone mad………..
